Inhibition of AMPK signaling reverses AEG-1-mediated increasing of glycolysis. (a) Western blots showing that inhibition of AMPK activity by Compound C (20 μM, 2 h) reduced AMPK phosphorylation and PFK2 phosphorylation in both AEG-1-overexpressed and nontransfected NCM460 cells. (b) Biochemical assays showing that inhibition of AMPK activity ameliorated AEG-1-induced glucose consumption and lactate production in NCM460 cells.
