YlxM affects the GTPase activity of SRP components. An endpoint colorimetric assay was used to detect the amount of inorganic phosphate (Pi) released upon hydrolysis of GTP to GDP after 1 h by Ffh and/or FtsY in the presence of YlxM and/or scRNA. Assays were performed in triplicate. Significant differences were determined by two-way ANOVA. * indicates a significant increase in activity, and # indicates a significant decrease in activity (P < 0.01).
