Aldosterone (Aldo) induces the expression of TGFβ1 mRNA in rat VSMCs. The cells were pretreated with PD98059 (PD, 50 μmol/L) or spironolactone (Spir, 50 μmol/L) for 1 h, then stimulated with Aldo (0.1 μmol/L) for 7 h. The cell lysates were analysed by real time RT-PCR.
