Experimental design. There were three experimental groups: sham control, single blast, and double blast, each with n=9. All animals were deeply anesthetized with inhalation anesthesia. Animals in the single blast group were exposed to a single air blast. Animals in the double blast group were exposed to two air blasts 60 sec apart. After a 72-h recovery period, animals were euthanized and imaged. A single animal in the double blast group died after exposure and was not imaged.
