Key events in the immunogenetics of drug hypersensitivity. Over the past decade, there has been increasing recognition of the key involvement of the major histocompatibility complex in different phenotypes of immunologically-mediated drug reactions. The ability to make these associations in the 1980s was hampered by the limitation of serologically-based HLA typing techniques.
