Immunohistochemical analysis of the 'fibrotic program’ active in allogeneically transplanted grafts. Representative immunohistochemical stainings show strong positivity for Fas ligand, MMP-1, MMP-13, and β₂-microglobulin in allogeneically (FVB into DBA/1) and for Gremlin-1 in syngeneically (DBA/1 into DBA/1) transplanted hearts explanted at day 100, in comparison to naive non-transplanted FVB hearts and acutely rejected (BALB/c into C57BL/6) allografts (20× magnification).
