The stress concentration factor is computed using the third level model under the loaded condition, in which the material properties of the µCalcs are either those of the intima fibrotic tissue (Fig. 3A) or those of calcified tissue (Fig. 3B). The SCF due to the presence of µCalcs is computed as the ratio of the circumferential stresses, σθθµCalc and σθθsoft tissue at the tensile pole of the µCalc.
