Schematic of the PHP procedure. Chemotherapeutic is delivered through an infusion catheter placed in the hepatic artery. A double-balloon catheter is placed in the IVC to isolate the hepatic veins. Fenestrations between the balloons aspirate venous hepatic blood into the extracorporeal circuit (EC) through Delcath’s hemofiltration cartridges. An arterial filter acts as a bubble trap to ensure that no air embolisms return with the cleaned blood into the jugular vein.
