Stress-strain properties for three linear (N) and four nonlinear (P/AP) silicone vocal fold models. Two of the nonlinear models contained only polyester fibers (P), and two contained polyester and acrylic fibers (AP), similar to those used in frequency testing. As shown by the slope, linear vocal fold models had a nearly linear stress-strain characteristic. Models with polyester and acrylic fibers embedded in the cover demonstrated a nonlinear stress-strain curve, with acrylic fibers potentially providing more resistance than polyester fibers.
