Effects of a high-fructose diet with DEN intake on hepatic steatosis. (A-C) Fat droplet deposition evaluated by hematoxylin-eosin staining was observed in the liver in rats fed a high-fat diet (B) and a high-fructose diet (C), but not in those fed a control diet (A). In addition, hepatic fibrosis was not observed in any of these groups. (D-F) Oil red O staining showed that fat deposition was more marked in the high-fat group (E) than in the high-fructose group (F), and this difference was significant (G).
