(A) For each protein in a large set, we compute the probability that the free energy of the misfolded ensemble is larger for the real sequence than for 100 randomly reshuffled sequences with the same composition. The results show that for most natural proteins, the misfolded ensemble is destabilized. (B) The average energy of a contact decreases with its nativeness index, CijnatCij.
