Effects of treatments on tumor area and osteolysis. Mice were treated with PBS, free DOX, blank NP, or DOX-loaded NP (DOX-NP) at an equivalent drug dose of 0.2 mg/kg (dose 1) or 1 mg/kg (dose 2). At the end point, the extension of the osteolytic area was determined by X-ray analysis; sections of the tibiae were histologically examined to evaluate tumor area and the number of osteoclasts on the bone surface.
