Mean flow through ten open and closed FEP Teflon valves as a function of upstream pressure applied to the fluid. Flow through the open valve increases linearly with pressure, while flow through the closed valve is negligible at pressures below the pneumatic pressure used to hold the valve closed (50 kPa). Error bars show the range of individual flow rates for the ten valves measured.
