Correlation of resting energy expenditure (REE) versus Creactive protein (CRP) for the HbSS group. The correlation test was done after adjusting REE for the major significant predictor, fat-free mass (FFM). CRP was significantly associated with REE, P < 0.005. Furthermore, regression analysis indicated CRP to be an important predictor of REE in HbSS (r2 = 0.64, P < 0.005).
