For phyloge-netic analysis with the 16S rRNA gene, fifteen type strains of the genus Microbacterium and two isolates from other plants were used. The potato leaf-associated Microbacterium strains are shown in bold. Nine AHL-degrading isolates from potato plants were classed into three groups, I, II, and III. Scale bar represents 0.01 substitutions per nucleotide position. M. gubbeenense NBRC 103073 and M. barkeri NBRC 15036 were used as the outgroup to root the tree.
