Recombinant adenoviruses were generated expressing three alleles and six mutants of Tat. (A) Sequences of the Tat alleles and Tat_SF2 mutants. Amino acids that differ from the wild-type Tat_SF2 are in bold and underlined. (B) Western Blot analysis of Tat alleles and mutant in iDC. (C) The three Tat alleles and six Tat mutants were expressed in HeLa cells that have the β-galactosidase gene under the control of the HIV-1 LTR promoter. Transactivation activity was measured by a β-galactosidase assay and compared to the activity of the wild-type Tat_SF2.
