(A) The generation of CB CD34+ and CD34+CD90+ cells in the presence of cytokines occurred to a greater degree in SF than in SC cultures. A significant difference in the fold increase of CD34+ and CD34+CD90+ cells was observed in VPA-containing SF cultures as compared with SC cultures. *P < 0.05; **P < 0.005; ***P < 0.0005 (mean ± SEM; ANOVA, P < 0.0001; n = 6–7). (B) Phenotypic analysis of PC and CD34+ cells treated in SF media under control conditions or in the presence of VPA.
