Chaperone-like activity of HspB1 and its fluorescent chimeras. Reduction-induced aggregation of insulin (a) or lysozyme (b, c). Aggregation of isolated model substrate (1) or model substrate in the presence of the wild-type HspB1 (2) or its N-terminal (3) or C-terminal (4) fluorescent chimera was followed by an increase in optical density at 340 nm. The concentration of insulin was equal to 50 μM per monomer, and the concentration of sHsp was equal to 2 μM per monomer. The concentration of lysozyme was equal to 10 μM and the concentration of sHsp was equal to 5 μM (b) and 10 (c) per monomer, respectively. Data are representative of several experiments
