Inflammatory cell accumulation during compensatory hypertrophy. Macrophages (A) and neutrophils (B) were quantified as number of cells stained positively for F4/80 or Ly6G antigen, respectively. Peak macrophage accumulation was markedly reduced by NS-398 treatment. NS-398 treatment did not affect peak neutrophil accumulation and only reduced neutrophil number at day 5, when neutrophil content had already declined to near control values.
