a

Mice were immunized with MBP peptide as we described in Materials and methods. Some of the MOG immunized mice were injected with IFN-β DNA, while some mice were ocularly infected with 2X107 PFU/eye of HSV-IL-12p70. The presence of demyelination in ONs, SCs, and brains was assessed on day 29 post treatment. Clinical symptomatology was assessed daily for 29 days or until death.

b

Percent of mice showing demyelination.

c

Area of plaque/section ± standard error of mean (SEM) in treated mice.
