MAV-1-induced IL-17 responses in the lung. Mice were infected i.n. with MAV-1 or mock infected with conditioned media. A) RNA was extracted from lungs harvested at the indicated time points and RT-qPCR was used to quantify IL-17A mRNA, which is expressed in arbitrary units. B–C) ELISA was used to quantify IL-17 and IL-23 concentrations in BALF from mice at 7 dpi. D) RT-qPCR was used to quantify lung RORγt expression at 7 dpi. Combined data from n=3–13 (A), n=10 (B and D) and n=5 (C) mice per group are presented as means ± S.E.M. Statistical comparisons were made using two-way ANOVA followed by Bonferroni’s multiple comparison tests (A) or Mann-Whitney test (B–D). *P<0.05, **P<0.01 and ***P<0.001, comparing mock to MAV-1.
