Theme maps of ISODATA detected size, location and severity of the ischemic tissue at 2, 6, 24 and 48 h after onset of stroke in rats. The upper row maps exhibited the quick increases of ischemic lesion size and severity from 2 to 48 h in a control rat, treated with saline at 4 h post stroke. For a rat received combination treatment of rtPA and 7E3 F(ab′)2 at 4 h post stroke, the ISODATA theme maps, the lower row, presented a reduced increase rates of ischemic lesion size and severity from 2 to 48 h after stroke. Ischemic lesions identified by ISODATA matched the histological results (H&E stain, right column) obtained at 48 h post stroke
