Drosophila species measured include D. mojavensis infected with citri-type non-male-killing Spiroplasma, D. hydei infected with citri-type non-male-killing Spiroplasma, D. hydei infected with non-male-killing poulsonii-type Spiroplasma, and D. melanogaster infected with poulsonii-type male-killing Spiroplasma. The male-killing Spiroplasma infecting D. melanogaster have the highest densities across all life stages, whereas the citri-type Spiroplasma are lower.
