Ascending aortic energy loss plotted as a function of mid-ascending aorta (MAA) diameter. A moderate correlation (r2=0.55, P<0.001) between energy loss and aortic dilatation was found for the control and dilation-only patient cohort (solid line). No correlation was found in the dilated/stenotic patients due to influence of the aortic valve inflow/outflow geometry on energy loss.
