FIG 6

Adhesion of BadA HN23-expressing E. coli to endothelial cells. HUVECs (1.0 × 105) were seeded into 24-well plates overnight and exposed to 1.0 × 107 bacteria (MOI, 100) for 15 min. After washing and cell lysis, adherent bacteria were quantified by counting CFU plated in logarithmic dilutions. Adherence of E. coli to endothelial cells was highly dependent on BadA HN23 expression (P < 0.001).
