The effects of changing the concentration of bovine serum albumin (BSA) on urine production in mouse kidneys (fresh non-stored). Physiological concentrations of BSA in the perfusate (5%) severely limit urine formation in fresh kidneys and often prevent it from occurring at all in kidneys with preservation in jury. This prevents the determination of renal function that is based on urine formation (GFR, proteinuria, renal handling of electrolytes, etc.). Values are mean ± SD, n=3 mice.
