Pulse sequence diagram for proposed 3D multislab, multishot MRE acquisition. Flow-compensated motion encoding gradients are applied on either side of the refocusing pulse and before the in-plane spiral readouts gradients. The 3D k-space trajectory is a stack-of-spirals with kz-encoding blips played before the spiral readout. Following a second refocusing pulse, a low-resolution 3D navigator is acquired as a single-shot stack-of-spirals for motion-induced phase error correction. Each of the ten slabs is excited once per TR of 1.8 s, and multiple TRs are used to encode the slab with a 3D k-space.
