CCN5 contains region analogous to CCN1 Integrin α_vβ₃ binding domain. The 20 amino acid sequence (corresponding to amino acids 116–135 of the mouse CCN1) in the Von Willebrand factor type C domain of CCN1, as shown by (Chen et al. 2004) is critical for CCN1 binding to integrin α_vβ₃.
