IL-4-mediated reprogramming of activated microglia augmented mRNA expression of IL-1β and CCL2. Adult (3 months) male BALB/c mice were given an intraperitoneal injection of saline or LPS and 1 h later received an intracerebroventricular (icv) injection of vehicle or IL-4. Brains were collected 24 h after LPS. A 1 mm coronal brain section was taken and the remainder of the brain was used to isolate enriched microglia.
