The binding sites of conserved miRNAs have substantially slower turnover rates than random 8mers. After normalizing gain and loss rates by total number of sites, it is apparent that the binding sites of conserved miRNAs (in red) have slower turnover rates than those of other 8mer sequences in 3′-UTRs.
