Schematic representation of the animal protocols used for Schistosoma ova (Schisto), SU5416 (SU), and carboxymethylcellulose (CMC) administration. SU5416 (20 mg/kg body weight) or CMC was administered subcutaneously weekly at the time points indicated. Schistosoma-exposed mice were intraperitoneally (IP) injected with eggs at a dose of 240 eggs/g body weight, followed 2 weeks later by intravenous (IV) injection of Schistosoma mansoni eggs at a dose of 240 eggs/g body weight. Hemodynamic measurements and tissue collection were performed on day 28. RV Cath: right ventricular catheterization.
