Representative CLSM image of biofilm on SBMP control. The biofilm section parallel to the resin surface is referred to as the x–y plane. The direction perpendicular to resin surface is termed the z axis. The 2-day biofilm on SBMP control had a thickness of approximately 41 µm. Ten planes at equal distances along the z axis of the biofilm (indicated by the 10 white lines at the upper left corner) were imaged by CLSM.
