Capsaicin-induced upregulation of calpain activity was mediated by TRPV6 receptor. (A) The transfection of TRPV-6-siRNA (referred as TRPV6 siRNA 1) ablated capsaicin-induced calpain activation in DMS 53 and DMS 114 cells. No effect was seen with a non-targeting control siRNA. The experiment was repeated with a second independent TRPV6 siRNA (referred as TRPV6 siRNA 2) and analogous results were obtained. (B) However, neither of the TRPV6 siRNA had any impact on calpain activity of untreated DMS 53 and DMS 114 human SCLC cells. Data represent mean ± SEM. Results indicated by a different letter are significantly different (P < 0.05).
