“Release” task in Experiment 2. (A) In the Release task, participants released the ball (Self) or observed it being released (Agent), so as to drop it onto a target. We varied the visual feedback in one of three ways: by only displaying the ball as it reached the target plane; displaying it briefly at the halfway point; or not displaying the ball after release. This manipulation provided low, medium, or high levels of uncertainty, before participants again estimated the ball's final position.
