Microtubule stabilizing conditions (2ME2 treatment, TAO1 depletion, TAO1 depletion combined with Taxol treatment) all promote errors in kinetochore–microtubule (Kt-MT) attachments. Regardless of the spindle checkpoint status, microtubule stabilizing conditions ultimately promote two distinct mitotic outcomes: mitotic arrest or delay and mitotic exit with mis-segregation.
