Citrulline consumption results in increased mRNA levels of ABCA1 and ABCG1 in human monocyte derived macrophages (MDM). The monocytes were cultured and differentiated into macrophages in the presence of autologous sera obtained from 8 subjects before and 1 week after placebo (A, B) or citrulline (C, D) consumption.
