Triacylglycerol content (A) in quadriceps muscle was used as a measure of lipid accumulation. Beta-hydroxyacyl dehydrogenase (β-HAD; B), medium chain acyl coenzyme A dehydrogenase (MCAD, C) citrate synthase (CS, D) and acyl-CoA oxidase (AOX, E) activities were measured in muscle homogenates. Oxidation of [1-14C]-palmitic acid was assessed in muscle homogenates, with the ratio of CO2:acid soluble metabolites (ASM) shown (F).
