Figure 6. Effects of eATP on mycobacterial killing or release by C57BL/6 and P2X7R−/− BMDMs.

Figure 6

C57BL/6 and P2X7R−/− BMDMs were infected with H37Rv Mtb, Beijing 1471 Mtb and MP287/03 Mbv at an MOI of 10; treated with 0, 1 or 5 mM eATP for 30 min; and analyzed 6 h later. (A) Mycobacterial killing was evaluated by intracellular CFU quantitation. (B) The release of mycobacteria from necrotic cells was examined by CFU quantification in the culture supernatants. (C) Images show BMDM cultures (200× magnification; bar scales correspond to 100 µm). Significant differences were observed between eATP-treated and non-treated groups and for the indicated experimental conditions (*p<0.05, **p<0.01 and ***p<0.001). The data represent the means ± SD of samples in triplicate. The data are representative of three separate experiments.
