5-LO pathway and BLTR are major determinants of PMN infiltration into lungs after hindlimb ischemia-reperfusion. 5-LO–/– and 5-LO+/+ (a) and hBLTR TG and nTG (b) mice were subjected to hindlimb ischemia-reperfusion. The left lungs were collected. MPO activities were determined, and data are expressed as (a) increase in lung PMN infiltrates (×105) compared with control animals (ischemia alone) from 2 separate experiments, and (b) total PMN infiltration into lungs after ischemia-reperfusion. Total PMN numbers obtained from hBLTR TG and nTG mice were significantly different (*P = 0.02; n = 3).
