A model for the ordered assembly of OADs based on the cooperative binding of the ODA-DC. The ODA-DC cooperatively binds to the outer doublet from the proximal part of the axoneme to the distal part. Subsequently OAD is arranged on the “rail” of the ODA-DC. The 24-nm periodicity of OAD is based on the size of the ODA-DC.
