Summary of interferences and potential artifacts caused by graphene materials in cell culture experiments. Physical adsorption on abundant hydrophobic surfaces of graphene materials causes depletion of micronutrients and indirect toxicity, and the static fluorescence quenching of molecular probes can give false positives or negatives.
