NO induces CaMKII autonomy via S-nitrosylation. A, ONOO⁻ scavengers tryptophan (Trp) and MnTMPyP (MnTP) did not block but enhance the NO donor effect on CaMKII autonomy. The scavengers had no effect on CaMKII activity when instead added only immediately before the kinase assays.
