Figure 5.
Cytokine responses to Theiler's murine encephalomyelitis virus (TMEV) during the chronic stage of infection. The induced regulatory T cell (iTreg)‐late mice (hatched bars) produced significantly more interleukin (IL)‐10 (A) in response to TMEV than the control mice (closed bars) (*P < 0.05); production of IL‐4, interferon (IFN)‐γ and IL‐17 was similar (B, C and D). Mice were killed during the chronic stage, and the mononuclear cells were isolated from the spleens and stimulated with conconavalin A (ConA) or TMEV for 48 h. The levels of cytokine production in the culture supernatant were measured by enzyme‐linked immunosorbent assays. Results are mean + standard error of the mean from three pools of spleens from two mice; these results are representative of three independent experiments. Abbreviation: ND = not detectable.
