Conserved amino acids are shown in (a) the Lys51 region, (b) the Tyr268 region and (c) the Tyr294-Glu295 region, which are important for catalytic activity in bacterial and eukaryotic AcdS sequences [23]. Positions indicated refer to those in the protein sequence of the Ascomycota model C. saturnus, for which key residues (boxed) were identified.
