Parameters were calibrated so as to match end-diastole volumes and pressures and to minimize the distance of the pressure-volume relationship to the Klotz curve (for passive parameters), and so as to match end-systole volumes and pressures (for active parameters). VA1–VA5, subjects 1–5; C0, scaling factor; B0, factor that determines the level of nonlinearity of the stress-strain relationship; Tmax, factor that reflects the overall contractility of the myocardial tissue.
