Various published and commercial procedures were compared for total DNA recovery from (A) clay and (B) A-horizon soils. Commercial kits included the Powerlyzer, PowerSoil® DNA isolation kit (MoBio) while the published methods included OU [15], MSU [39], ORNL 2001 [14], CTABIPA [40] and PA-D [37].
