Pregnancy outcomes such as maternal weight and abortion showed that worst parameters were associated to P1 whereas P2 presented the best maternal parameters. P3 had an intermediate situation. Fetuses were counted on day of surgery (D0) and on termination day (E18.5) in control and test animals; mean litter size are presented. Fetal resorption rate is expressed as a percentage of fetuses counted at the time of surgery. Uterine artery ligation caused a significantly increased rate of fetal resorption in test animals from P1 and P3. P1 corresponded to the worst fetal viability rate and P2 to the best rate. IUGR was effective in P1 and P3 where more than 50% of fetuses completed these conditions. Fetal weight : Placental weight ratios were significantly reduced in test animals from P1 and P3. Measured fetal sizes were in accordance to recorded fetal weights with significant differences in P1 and P3. Placental weights were significantly reduced in all protocols. * D0 = E16 for P1, E17 for P2 and E16.5 for P3.
