Cotinine prevented cognitive impairment in Tg6799 mice. 4.5–5 month-old mice (n = 8 per group) were treated daily for 3 months and tested in the radial arm water maze (RAWM; A). Chronic cotinine treatment (5 mg/kg) diminished cognitive impairment in the transgenic (Tg) mice as assessed using the RAWM testing for working memory. This tests revealed that cotinine-treated Tg mice (Tg + Cot 5) made fewer errors than vehicle-treated Tg mice (Tg + Veh) when tested overall (**p < 0.01; B) and during the final block of testing (**p < 0.01; D).
