(A) PRNP^−/− and wild-type (WT) macrophages were incubated with E. coli (MOI of 10) for 1 h. After washing, cells were incubated with RPMI-1640 containing gentamicin for 30 min (0-h time point) or for an additional 1–2 h. After each time point, cells were washed and lysed. Live bacteria in the lysates were counted after inoculation on LB agar plates. (B) The proliferation index at the 1-h and 2-h time points is shown.
