Definitions for statin-related myopathy proposed by American College of Cardiology/American Heart Association/National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute Clinical Advisory [Pasternak et al. 2002].

Terms	Definition
Myopathy	General term referring to any disease of muscles
Myalgia	Muscle ache or weakness without CK elevation
Myositis	Muscle symptoms with CK elevation
Rhabdomyolysisa	Muscle symptoms with significant CK elevation (typically >10 times ULN), and creatinine elevation (usually with brown urine and urinary myoglobin)

^aUS Food and Drug Administration proposed definition: CK > 50 times ULN and evidence of organ damage, such as renal compromise.
